Neuro-Chiropractic Care for Children
Neuro-chiropractic care is safe for children of all ages, from newborns to teens. It can make a big difference in the lives of children who struggle with depression, anxiety, constipation and/or diarrhea, headaches, ear infections, digestive problems and other issues that affect their daily lives. Under Dr. Ella’s care, many children have found relief from chronic symptoms.
Your child may be experiencing symptoms because his/her/their brain may not be communicating as effectively as it could with the rest of the body. Your child may need some help when it comes to relaxing and recovering after a stressful event, managing day-to-day anxiety or dealing with a digestive or health issue. Just as is the case with adults, chiropractic adjustments of certain, specific areas of the body with the right type of stimulation increase brain function in children.
Dr. Ella has had advanced training in pediatrics and uses a gentle approach when speaking to and caring for her pediatric patients. During the initial visit, Dr. Ella evaluates primitive reflexes, brain balance and autonomic function to assess what type of care would be best for your child. We use the Stress Response Evaluation (link) for children over five as an initial evaluation tool. The Stress Response Evaluation tells us how your child’s brain and body react to stress. Using the results from the evaluation, Dr. Ella creates a chiropractic care plan that targets adjustments to specific areas of the body that correspond with specific kinds of brain activity.
The goal of the adjustments is to optimize how your child’s brain and body process information, including stressors. Dr. Ella tailors adjustments to stimulate the nerves in your child’s body to improve brain function and create good “brain habits.” Progress is measured by re-administration of the Stress Response Evaluation.
Dr. Ella uses light touch and a handheld instrument called an ArthoStim to perform chiropractic adjustments. The ArthroStim is faster, more comfortable and more efficient than traditional manual adjustments and greatly reduces the amount of force needed, making it more comfortable infants and young children. There is no popping, twisting or snapping. These adjustments are safe and effective for people of all ages.
